Area of expertise - financial management in the building materials and extractive industries

As a financial executive for an international corporation in addition to large business management skills I have experience with small- and medium-sized and start-up businesses. My areas of expertise which are relevant to small businesses include business planning and budgeting, cash flow management, acquisitions and divestitures, accounting and financing.

I am English by birth and a retired Chartered Accountant (equivalent of the American CPA) in both England and Canada and have lived and worked internationally during my career with most of the last 30 years based in the United States. My early career was spent in public accounting, much of it giving advice to small, start-up or growing businesses. The latter part of my career was in the corporate world and during much of that time I was responsible for a broad range of financial management functions for small businesses and also played a lead role in small- and medium-sized business acquisitions and sales. I have also had experience in financial education in both the public accounting area and, latterly, in helping non-financial managers to acquire a working knowledge of financial management relating to their business interests. I am particularly excited to work with small business owners and start-ups in all areas finance related.
